Google is adding a dedicated student hub to its Gemini app aimed at back-to-school users. The hub consolidates study tools such as a study notebook for collecting research, flashcards, and practice quizzes into a single interface.

Study notebooks are being enhanced to support graphs and images, and can automatically add test dates and deadlines to a user's Google Calendar based on syllabus information.

Gemini Live is gaining a Deep Research feature that can generate research reports and notify users when a report is ready, even if they close the chat or lock their phone screen.

A new Lens feature in the Google mobile app will let students take a photo of a study worksheet or problem set and receive explanations, help with complicated concepts, or coaching if they made a mistake.

Eligible students in the US will receive one year of Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of storage, Google Health Premium, higher usage limits on Gemini, and access to Gemini across Google apps.

Students outside the US will receive Google AI Plus with 400GB of storage and lower Gemini usage limits.
