Anthropic announced the launch of Claude Design on April 17, 2026, a new visual creation tool built on its latest vision model, Claude Opus 4.7. The product is available in research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, with access included in existing subscription tiers and optional paid extensions for additional usage.
The tool enables collaborative design workflows where users describe their requirements in natural language and Claude generates an initial version. Refinement occurs through inline comments, direct text editing, adjustment sliders generated by Claude, or further conversation. Teams can maintain design systems that automatically apply brand colors, typography, and components to all outputs.
Claude Design supports multiple input formats including text prompts, image and document uploads (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), direct codebase integration, and website element capture. Outputs can be exported as standalone URLs, folders, Canva files, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, or HTML. The tool integrates with Claude Code, allowing design handoff bundles to flow directly into implementation workflows.
Early users from design and product teams reported significant efficiency gains. Brilliant's Product Designer noted the tool reduced prototyping iterations for complex interactive pages from 20+ prompts in competing tools to 2 prompts. Datadog's Product Manager reported that prototype creation during live conversations reduced typical one-week design cycles to single-session workflows. Canva's CEO confirmed partnership integration plans to allow seamless translation of Claude Design outputs into Canva's collaborative editing environment.
