TL;DR
  • Ambi raised $26 million in funding led by Luminous Ventures and ODM Huaqin to build ambient AI apps.

Ambi, founded by former Plaud executive Peter Mo, launched iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch apps designed to capture context in real time by listening to users continuously. The company said the apps can act as meeting note-takers and surface relevant knowledge during conversations based on calendar, meetings, knowledge bases, and web data. Users can also start a task on one device and continue it on another.

Ambi raised $26 million across multiple funding rounds led by Luminous Ventures, which has invested in companies such as Meituan and Unitree Robotics, and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) Huaqin. The startup also plans to release a desktop app that stores important parts of users’ work in memory to provide more personalized suggestions.

The company’s co-founder and CEO, Peter Mo, said Ambi aims to make AI assistance available “anytime and anywhere,” contrasting it with tools that require manual uploads or transfers from hardware like Plaud. Ambi is also developing its own hardware device with a screen, speaker, camera, and microphones to capture context and display information.

Ambi’s launch coincides with heightened scrutiny of ambient AI tools, including concerns about disclosure when third parties are recorded. Mo acknowledged the industry-wide challenge of ensuring users inform others about ambient capture, noting that the feature is off by default and users can disable it at any time. The company said it does not store recordings and encrypts data, though it did not specify the encryption method.
