AWS announced the public preview of the Well-Architected Agent, an AI-powered service designed to analyze AWS environments and deliver targeted, contextual recommendations for improving applications’ cost, security, performance, and resilience.
The service evaluates infrastructure by correlating utilization metrics, resource configurations, and application topology against Well-Architected best practices across more than 65 AWS services, producing recommendations aligned to declared business goals.
It provides three levels of recommendations: individual resource findings with specific dollar impact where applicable and step-by-step remediation; consolidated findings across multiple resources scoped to an application; and architectural patterns with Infrastructure as Code changes needed to align with best practices.
Users can define an agent profile in the AWS Well-Architected console to specify which AWS accounts and applications to monitor, which optimization pillars to focus on, and the permissions required, including goals for cost optimization, performance, resilience, and security.
To enable access, users provision customer-managed IAM roles that the agent uses to conduct architecture reviews and surface remediation options such as console walk-throughs, updated IaC changes, and AWS CLI commands.
