TL;DR
  • Google Search and AI Mode now offer interactive visuals, practice quizzes, and step-by-step problem breakdowns to help students learn.

Google is adding learning-focused features to Search and AI Mode to help students grasp complex topics, retain material, and stay organized. One new capability generates interactive visuals and simulations in AI Overviews or AI Mode to illustrate concepts like pH levels or custom requests such as plotting citrus fruits on a pH scale.

Students can generate customized practice quizzes in Search for subjects including science, math, humanities, and foreign languages, as well as standardized tests like the ACT, AP, ENEM, GRE, JEE, LSAT, MCAT, NEET, and SAT. These quizzes draw on content from partners including The Princeton Review, Careers360, PhysicsWallah, and Akira Enem, and include explanations and links for further learning.

A new interactive experience in Lens within Search will allow users to photograph a problem and receive an AI Overview that explains steps, identifies errors, and offers coaching. The feature will roll out globally in English over the coming weeks on Android and iOS.

Notebooks from Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) are being integrated into AI Mode in Search, enabling users to create dedicated notebooks for classes or projects, add sources such as slides or syllabi, and ask questions based on their materials. Existing notebooks will sync automatically, and the rollout spans more than 180 countries in English, with additional languages to follow.

Users can also ask Search or AI Mode to generate ready-to-use study documents from uploaded files or prior AI Mode threads, consolidating scattered course materials into structured files.
