AWS adds Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 to Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS

AWS announced the availability of Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 on Amazon Bedrock and the Claude Platform on AWS. The model is described as Anthropic’s most advanced Opus model and the first in the fifth generation.

According to the announcement, Claude Opus 5 delivers improvements across workflows commonly used in production environments, including agentic coding, knowledge work, visual understanding, and long-running tasks.

On Amazon Bedrock, Claude Opus 5 is offered with zero data retention (ZDR) by default, aligning with enterprise data governance requirements. The model leverages Bedrock’s next-generation inference engine, enabling deployment within existing AWS environments while maintaining enterprise security and regional data residency.

Claude Opus 5 is also accessible through the Claude Platform on AWS, which supports zero data retention on request. This integration provides access to Anthropic’s native platform experience and capabilities via the AWS Console, unified with AWS billing and authentication.

The announcement highlights that Claude Opus 5 matches the top-tier intelligence of Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 in many domains while being priced at the Opus tier.
