Anthropic expands voice mode to Opus and Sonnet models and integrates with Gmail, Slack, and Canva

Anthropic has expanded its voice mode capability beyond the faster but less powerful Haiku model to include Opus and Sonnet, which are designed for deeper reasoning and problem-solving. Voice mode was initially positioned for quick, low-latency responses, but Anthropic noted users applied it to more complex tasks such as working through business problems. The company states Sonnet and Opus can deliver more complex responses and analysis, and can take action on a user’s behalf, such as drafting a one-page pitch or adjusting calendar appointments.

Users can now switch between text and voice modes within the same conversation and toggle between models without interrupting the flow. Anthropic also broadened language support for voice mode from English-only to include French, German, Spanish, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.

The company is integrating voice mode into third-party applications including Gmail, Slack, and Canva, enabling users to invoke voice interactions within familiar workflows. Anthropic did not specify timelines for the app integrations beyond describing them as part of the expansion.
