Anthropic launches Claude Tag in research preview to capture enterprise context in Slack

Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag in research preview, an always-on AI teammate integrated into Slack for customers on the Claude Enterprise and Claude Team plans.

Claude Tag allows users to tag @Claude within Slack channels to receive insights, assign tasks, and access a shared, channel-specific Claude identity that maintains persistent context across conversations.

The feature builds on existing Slack integrations such as direct messages and channel mentions, where @Claude could previously be invoked on-demand for coding tasks via Claude Code, which routes requests to web-based coding sessions and posts updates back into threads.

Claude Tag adds ambient monitoring, enabling the AI to proactively join chats, flag relevant information from across the organization, and follow up on stalled threads or tasks without explicit prompts.

Each Claude identity is scoped to channels defined by system administrators, ensuring separation between functions such as legal and engineering, and preventing cross-channel memory leakage.

Administrators control which tools, information sources, and channels Claude can access, and the feature is designed to produce work publicly within Slack threads, maintaining visibility and context for all channel participants.

Anthropic describes the experience as working with a colleague that can produce work in public view with greater context and continuity than prior tools.
