Google DeepMind announced the Fairwind Program, a limited-access initiative to provide trusted government and enterprise partners with advanced AI-driven cyber defense capabilities. The program is designed to help defenders autonomously identify, verify, and remediate software vulnerabilities at scale using Google’s most advanced models.
As a first step, the Fairwind Program offers participants access to Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber, a specialized cybersecurity model, and CodeMender, a toolchain for generating and validating deployment-ready code fixes. Google states that this combination can reduce the time required to remediate vulnerabilities from weeks to minutes within a secure cloud environment.
Initial access is being staged for organizations deemed critical to societal resilience, including government agencies, national cyber authorities, critical infrastructure operators in healthcare, telecommunications, energy, and financial services, and core technology platforms. Google says these partners are among the first to receive early access to harden systems before adversaries can exploit new capabilities.
Participating organizations must adhere to strict operational standards, including restricting access to internal cybersecurity, incident response, or penetration testing teams and enforcing multi-factor authentication. Google reports that more than 650 partners globally have joined the program so far.
Beyond the Fairwind Program, Google Cloud customers can use CodeMender with publicly available models on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, in combination with industry solutions offered through AI Threat Defense, to proactively secure their code.
The initiative builds on Google’s existing zero-trust architecture and AI defenses, which the company says protect billions of accounts daily. Google.org also announced a $36 million commitment in its 2026 US Cybersecurity Impact Report, bringing its total global cybersecurity funding to over $100 million.
