According to reporting by 404 Media and Futurism, some exposed Artifacts contained code, work notes, and employee reviews with personal details. One chat labeled "shared by Anthropic" was also found to contain erotica, though it was not immediately clear how the content was generated or whether it violated platform policies.
Anthropic spokesperson Amie Rotherham stated that shareable links are not discoverable by search engines unless users post them publicly, and that the company does not provide chat directories or sitemaps to search engines. Rotherham added that users who share conversations make their content publicly accessible, and such content may be archived by third-party services.
Google spokesperson Ned Adriance noted that search engines do not control what pages are made public and that site owners have tools to control crawling and indexing. The company stated it respects directives to block or remove indexed content.
