Interconnects launches Artifacts Hub and Adoption Dashboard to track open model ecosystem

Interconnects, a publication focused on AI research and ecosystem analysis, launched two new tools to track the open model ecosystem: the Artifacts Hub and the Adoption Dashboard. The Artifacts Hub is a curated index of 792 models released in the last two years, spanning core text-focused language models and multimodal generative models. It integrates data from Hugging Face, Open Router, and Artificial Analysis to provide intelligence metrics, such as the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, and adoption comparisons for popular models like GLM-5.2.

The Hub also includes relative adoption metric (RAM) scores, which normalize downloads by time and model size, and a VAIL similarity index to compare models with related generations. These features are designed to help users quickly assess how a model ranks in frontier intelligence and adoption relative to peers.

Complementing the Hub, the Adoption Dashboard tracks download and derivative model numbers by geography and organization. The dashboard highlights the US–China adoption gap and identifies growing players in the open ecosystem. It builds on data from Hugging Face and other sources to provide a living, daily-updating view of model usage patterns.

Interconnects stated that these tools are part of its mission to enable transparency in the open ecosystem, particularly as organizations seek cost-competitive alternatives to frontier models. The data is freely available and intended to support research and product development in the open model space.

The projects were developed in collaboration with Project VAIL, an AI verification startup, and rely on data partnerships with Hugging Face, Open Router, and Artificial Analysis. Interconnects invites feedback and collaboration from the community to improve the tools and explore additional use cases for the curated data.
