AWS announced the availability of Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.1 on Amazon Bedrock, positioning it as a model optimized for long-running, high-stakes tasks across coding, scientific research, and enterprise workflows. According to Anthropic, the model is designed to handle entire software projects, including feature development, code review, and performance optimization over extended sessions.

AWS designated Claude Fable 5.1 as a Covered Model, a classification that triggers additional data retention, safety review, and access policies wherever the model is offered. Under this designation, AWS retains prompts and outputs for up to 30 days for human safety review within the AWS boundary. The company also introduced a new aws_review data retention mode to enforce this policy, replacing the legacy provider_data_share mode, which shared data with the model provider.

To further support enterprise use, AWS and Anthropic developed Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), a set of controls that allow eligible customers to use Covered Models while keeping their data within AWS. This initiative aims to address enterprise concerns about data privacy and regulatory compliance in AI deployments.

The announcement was made in AWS’s weekly roundup, which also highlighted other updates such as the preview of Amazon Linux 2027 and the introduction of the AWS Certified AI Business Strategist credential.
