xAI has launched Grok Bot, an always-on AI agent service designed to function as independent "AI teammates" that can perform multi-step workplace tasks on behalf of users. The agents operate within their own cloud-based computer environment and are capable of signing into apps, tools, and websites a user already uses to complete assigned work. They return only when the task is finished or when human approval is required.

The service builds on an internal prototype already used at xAI for tasks such as sales outreach, marketing, office operations, and bug fixes. Users can message the bots directly to assign work without pre-building workflows, and multiple bots can run in parallel. The bots can independently message each other to share context when projects overlap and can be placed in group chat environments to coordinate work and assign ownership.

Grok Bot can learn and retain a user’s existing workflows, preserve personal communication style, follow up on dropped conversations, and resume work from old chats. Over time, the system aims to become more proactive by initiating work before being asked and recognizing when a user’s attention is needed.

Grok Bot is available in beta starting today for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers on desktop and iOS. Teams and enterprise users can join a waitlist for future access. The service is positioned against offerings from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft, including ChatGPT Work, Claude Cowork, and Copilot Tasks.
